Outdoor phone booth at 66th Street and West End Avenue in Manhattan. There are four remaining outdoor phone booths in Manhattan. In addition to this one, other booths are located on West End Avenue at the corners of 90th, 100th, and 101st Streets. Another item of interest is the "DON'T WALK" light. Like phone booths, these old-fashioned crosswalk indicators are being phased out. They will be replaced by language-neutral LED-based signs. The LED signs are much brighter and much cheaper to operate. But I do prefer the soft, gentle light of the old-fashioned signs.
