If through some unfortunate stroke of bad timing you find yourself in a debate with a street-furniture annihilist or community board member announcing that public telephones should be eliminated because nobody but drug dealers still uses them, could you do the right thing? Could you tell that person that they are wrong? Could you at least tell them they are ignorant?

If someone announces that no one uses payphones you should quietly hang up on that person. They have nothing to say.
