Payphones Past

Payphone: Archer, Nebraska

Daniel Zubiate shares this July, 2011, picture of a payphone in Archer, Nebraska. Daniel adds: “Not surprisingly, the phone didn’t work when I tested it.”

Archer, Nebraska, 2011.

Some years ago I went on a long road trip through Nebraska, the Dakotas, Wyoming and West Virginia, snapping pictures of (among other things) Nebraska payphones and phone booths. I wonder how many of those old Nebraska payphones and phone booths survive and are in working order today, 9 years later?

I got word last year from a site visitor who reported that this phone booth in Wahoo, Nebraska, disappeared a few years ago.
