Commenced in 2010, but mostly kept under the radar, I established the Payphone Radio Network to document my wanderings and activities via recorded observations made from public pay telephones. This Shoutcast radio stream contains recorded phone calls, mostly from New York city payphones but occasionally elsewhere, along with a small number of calls from my cell phone. Interspersed among the calls are sounds of subway buskers and musicians performing, mostly in the New York City subway system and all recorded using public pay telephones. Sounds of recorded messages heard when attempting to call payphones also pass through this radio stream.
