Had to read this again. It’s from 8 years ago, after all. I had some conversations with payphone owners over the years but, as you might expect, not many of them are still in the business and have diversified or moved on to ATMs, air machines, laundromats, video game machines, charm machines… Keeping payphones alive today is display advertising and (I suspect) dialaround compensation fraud.
