There used to be 4 Verizon payphones here. Now there is only one PTS payphone. Whoever removed the old payphones may not have done the most elegant job, but I appreciate the ruggedness of the exposed cinder block wall behind the paint. The increasingly old-fashioned wire of the land line is also a beautiful sight.
As seen in the next picture, the future for this payphone is not promising. The owners of the Pathmark store in which this payphone resides announced its closing date of August 25, 2012.
