Payphones Past

Sacramento: Payphones a Thing of the Past?

The Sacramento Press has an elegiac photo essay of payphones in Sacramento. Some are abandoned, some are in use. Some are blighted and others are loose.

These two payphones are inside old-fashioned wooden phone booths. Check out this lovely photo set, and take a trip down memory lane by browsing the Payphone Project’s list of Sacramento Payphone Locations, a list now mostly outdated and obsolete but interesting nonetheless if you are familiar with Sacramento and have an interest in its ephemera.

PayphonePictures.com also has a couple of old photos of Sacramento payphones, including a payphone outside the City Limits Strip Club and a pair of cordoned off crime scene payphones.
