Originally listed at 718-476-8903, this payphone has dial tone at the 90th Street/Elmhurst Avenue 7 train station. I got bumped into by a bunch of people yesterday while trying to use this payphone. Nobody paid me no mind.

Any endeavor which depends on the reliability of the public telephone is imperiled from the start. I was glad to catch at least this one segment today, from a musician who is unnamed because no identifying information was to be seen at his performance space.

Grand Central Subway Station – No Working Payphones

There are only two payphones left on the upper level of the Grand Central subway station. Neither one works.

Another Abandoned PTS Payphone

Most of New York City's subway stations are littered with useless hulks of payphones abandoned by Pacific Telemanagement Services (PTS). Since PTS acquired most of Verizon's payphones devices like this one at the 53rd Street/Lexington Avenue stop have been left to rot. It is virtually impossible to find a working payphone in most of New York City's subways.
