Lou Costello is charged with the task of calling Fields Employment Agency at ALexander 4444. That’s a phone number in the telephone exchange name format, the telephone numbering system that was phased out in the 1960s. The ALexander exchange was in Rochester, NY.
In this sketch Lou gets no respect from the telephone operator. No respect whatsoever.
