I Found the Pollock Payphone

Someone really went to work on this payphone in Woodside, Queens. An admirer of Jackson Pollock, perhaps? Yes or no, I call this the Pollock Payphone, for its evocation of that painter’s splatter painting technique. Only one color of paint was used here, versus Pollock’s cacophony of colors. The way someone dribbled the paint in an aurora-like arc on the sidewalk, not just once but twice, suggests to me that whoever did this genuinely had something to say here. This was on Dongan Avenue just off of Broadway.
