The phone booths and payphones seen in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" play no part in the film. That's too bad. The iconic "Heeeeere's Johnny" scene in which Jack Nicholson busts through a door with an axe could have made for pretty scary stuff if he instead swung his axe at a phone booth door with his terrified trapped victims inside.
