Payphones around Midtown Manhattan in New York are being vandalized with mysterious stickers reading “Surrender This Envelope To Get A $10 Rate”. I do not know what this phrase means, and while it is not quite driving me crazy it has the potential to do just that.

WHAT’S IT MEAN?
The Payphone Project generally does not spotlight or focus on vandalism of public telephones in any form, regardless of whether the vandalism is executed in the name of an art project or if it is simply common graffiti. But in this case we are intrigued enough to ask at whom or what is this ambiguous message directed.
These stickers have also been spotted on USPS mailboxes in midtown.
