Last week I shared several photos by Daniel Hopsicker, who offered to share his bountiful quantity of payphone photos he’s accumulated over the years. Those photos showed payphones of Roanoke, Virginia. Today’s set comes from a New York road trip, starting from Utica to Binghamton via route 12, then back taking I-81 to Syracuse and I-90 from Syracuse to Utica. This series includes a couple of full-size phone booths, one at the Binghamton Zoo, another since-removed curbside phone booth in Marathon.
Does New York State P.S.C. still require one coin operated pay phone in each county?
I don’t know but if they do that requirement is being largely ignored.
I think Nebraska still has such a rule on the books, and in the past they’d been notorious in enforcing it, but even they’ve been letting it go.
